SPANISH ´UD Altea, escuela de Tiki Taka´ (Querido lectores, por favor perdona ¡el castellano chapurreado de Matt!) Esto era un gran comienzo a la nueva temporada, tres goles y tres puntos a domicilio. Han habido muchos cambios a la plantilla Alteana durante el verano, pero desde la grada se nota la diferencia, el equipo es mas rapido y mas ´listo´ tambien. Sin embargo el futbol español es nada menos que una educacion, dentro los primeros diez minutos marcaron Bazaga, Carrasco y Manu sino el arbitro miope decidio a anular los primeros dos y el marcador solo mostro 1-0 por el Altea. Lo que paso en el resto de la primera parte era un autentico misterio como el equipo de la Villa Blanca decidio a relajarse y el gol de Algueñas (min.42) fue, por desgracia, merecido. Para mi, lo interesa fue la actuacion del arbitro…..nuevo lateral izquierdo Guiseppe recibe una tarjeta roja por dos faltas, mientras Manu recibe un cabezazo y una amarilla, increible pero es verdad… Al mismo tiempo el futbol en la liga Preferente es veradaderamente entretenido y ya entiendo cuando Angel (qiuen tuvo un partido excelente como lateral izquierdo) intenta a explicarme el significado de la palabra ´paquete´ cuando vi el penalti dado al Algueñas un poco antes del descanso. Me parece que el delantero creyo que era Zidane en el ultimo Mundial con un sombrero ridiculo lo cual se estrella contra el larguero y casi me muero de la risa!! Obviamente Carrete dijo unas palabras en el vestuario durante el descanso y en la segunda parte, como con solamente diez jugadores el Altea fue mucho superior. Un premio aqui para el mister, tecnicamente sus cambios fueron correctos, especialmante la introduccion del excelente Nene, quien dio equilibrio al equipo en el centro del campo. Chole empezo a jugar como un ´galactico´y los aficionados vieron un autentico exposicion del querido Tiki Taka. Manu marco (ironicamente) con un cabezazo desde una saque de esquina, y cinco minutos mas tarde Bazaga hizo exactamente lo mismo y los puntos fueron los nuestros - ¡Amunt Altea!El Trofeo Pimpollo – Hubo muchos candidatos, Christian, Chole y Miramar entre otros, pero con dos goles y 80 minutos de trabajo continuoso por el equipo, el ganador debe ser Manu. Gracias Manu….

ENGLISH UD Altea have started the new season as they would have wished with an excellent win against newly promoted Algueñas writes Matthew Bell. The team is unrecognisable from last season´s (which now resides in Polop), but 2 ingredients lacking from last season, pace & guile, have been added & this was evident in the first 10 minutes of play as Altea tore into their opponents with a header (Bazaga) cleared off the line, a goal disallowed (Carrasco) for a non-existant offside before Manu smashed home a half volley to give Pepe Carrete´s team a deserved lead. Altea looked like racking up a cricket score, but all credit to their hosts who came fighting back with Tomas acobatically tipping over a header (20 mins) before being given a penalty just before the interval. For reasons best known to himself the Algueñas forward decided to reprise Zidane by attempting to chip the Altea custodian only for the ball to tamely clip the crossbar before being cleared for a corner. Whilst I, and others, in the Altea contingent succumbed to mild hysterics the home team spoiled our fun by heading in an equaliser, which was probably deserved. Altea were being driven back so quite why debutant left back Guiseppe decided to commit a foul 25 yards in the opponent´s half will remain a mystery, although given that this was his second tarjeta the ensuing red was less mysterious. Coach Carrete must have waved the magic wand at half time as Altea decided to play the full ´45 of the second half. Joanno got hold of the centre of the park with the excellent Nene, while the mercurial Chole toyed mercilessly with the home team. Both he and Manu attempted spectacular long range efforts, whilst the former would graze the woodwork with a delightful free kick. In many games last year Altea lacked a playmaker but with the arrival of Chole they seem to have found one and from the ensuing corner Manu powered in a header (2-1,70 mins). Now there was only going to be one winner and with 10 minutes remaining local hero Bazaga headed home (3-1) to seal the victory for the team from the Villa Blanca. It may be early days but this Altea team clearly means business with the spine of last year´s team still in place and players of evident class such as Christian (who had an excellent game) and David Carrasco who will hopefully lift Altea to la Tercera. Man of the Match – Many candidates for the prestigious Trofeo Pimpollo but with 2 goals and a prodigious work-rate it has to be Manu.
